Shloka:

यथाखरश्चन्दनभारवाहीभारस्यवेत्तानतुचन्दनस्य|

एवंहिशास्त्राणिबहून्यधीत्यचार्थेषुमूढाःखरवद्वहन्ति|| Su.Su.4/4

Word meaning:

यथा- for instance/ as

खरश्चन्दन- Khara+ Chandana=Donkey+ Sandalwood

भारवाही- Weight bearer

भारस्यवेत्ता-Bharasya+Vetta= Weight's+ knower

न- no/ not

तु- but/ and

चन्दनस्य-sandalwood's/ of sandalwood

एवं- thus, similarly

हि-surely/ for/ because

शास्त्राणि-any religious or scientific treatise

बहून्यधीत्य-bahuni+adheetya- a lot+ having studied

चार्थेषुमूढाः-cha+artheshu+moodhaha=and+meaning+stupid/ignorant

खरवद्वहन्ति-Kharavat+vahanti=Like Donkey+to carry

Translation:

As the Donkey is knowing only about the weight of Sandalwood but not about the value of the sandalwood which it is carrying (bearing on its back), similarly having studied a lot of treatise but ignorant of the meaning/sense of the treatise is also as same of the donkey carrying the weight of the sandalwood.

Discussion and Conclusion:

We should be through in all the aspects of the particular disease/ about the Ayurveda or about the shlokas of Ayurveda, but only knowing / byharting the shloka is as same as the Donkey is knowing only about the weight of Sandalwood but not about the value of the sandalwood which it is carrying (bearing on its back).

So we should be through in all the aspects related to our field.
